Iran plane reports were FARS-ical

The plane that was supposedly forced to land in Iran was not a US military aircraft. In fact there were no Americans on board the plane which was, as it turns out, a Hungarian aid flight to Afghanistan that had earlier taken off from Turkey. Even more bizarrely the incident occurred one week ago. The reports had emerged on Tuesday afternoon on the BBC and on Sky News after reports on the Iranian News Agency website. A BBC correspondent described the whole incident, which has even prompted statements from the White House and the Pentagon, as either “a conspiracy or cock-up”. In fact it could be described as FARS-ical [BBC / Sky News / CNN].
